Position: Specialty Wood Hand Carver (High-End Cabinetry)

Worksite: On-site (no remote work), Hayward, California

Pay: $27.00 per hour (hourly)

Paid Time Off: Paid federal holidays only (no additional benefits)

Role Summary

Millennium Woodwork Inc. is expanding into high-end cabinetry. This position is for a traditionally trained artisan with strong experience in fine cabinetmaking who can help fuse classic handcrafted techniques with modern, industrial cabinetry methods. The goal is to produce outstanding, unique cabinetry that meets premium fit-and-finish standards while preserving authentic craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble high-end cabinetry and custom millwork to tight tolerances and clean reveal lines
  • Perform traditional cabinetmaking work such as hand-cut joinery, precision fitting, veneering, edge-banding, and fine detailing
  • Execute hand craftsmanship including layout, scribing, door/drawer tuning, and hardware alignment for premium performance
  • Support decorative and artisanal elements when required (e.g., marquetry/inlay work, carved details, specialty accents)
  • Work from shop drawings, cut lists, and production specifications; communicate clearly with team leads to resolve build details
  • Maintain high standards for safety, tool care, and shop organization

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

  • Proven experience as a fine cabinetmaker or wood artisan with traditional training and practice in cabinetmaking techniques
  • Strong skills in measuring, layout, cutting, assembly, and corrective fitting to deliver premium-grade results
  • Ability to consistently produce high-quality work suitable for high-end residential or commercial cabinetry
  • Ability to work on-site in Hayward, CA during scheduled hours

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Experience blending hand craftsmanship with modern cabinet production methods (casework standards, premium hardware systems, repeatable quality)
  • Experience with decorative techniques applied to wood, such as marquetry, inlays, or specialty surface detailing
  • Ability to mentor others or document techniques as the high-end line grows

Work Conditions

This is a physical, hands-on shop role in a woodshop environment (standing, lifting, repetitive motion, and use of power tools).
Employees must follow all safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
